The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said that the total workforce in Indonesia reached more than 131 million out of 256 million people. During the COVID-19 pandemic, as many as 82 percent of the workforce experienced a decline in income, even though a Jobstreet Indonesia survey stated that only around 54 percent of the workforce was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Of the affected workers, 35 percent of them are permanently laid off and 19 percent are temporarily suspended. Jobstreet Indonesia predicts, by the end of 2020, the number of unemployed people in Indonesia could increase to 4 to 5 million so that it will reach 11 million. (Photo by Basri Marzuki/NurPhoto)
