Activists Demonstrate Against Animal Slaughterhouses In Mexico

Activists from the Animal Save Mexico organization chained themselves during a demonstration at the Angel of Independence in Mexico City, against the slaughterhouses of animals in Mexico. The demonstration was called Mexico Without Slaughterhouses, in order to raise awareness about mistreatment and exploitation in the livestock industry and build a mass movement based on justice and animal liberation. In Mexico and other countries around the world, activists from the same organization have demonstrated in memory of activist Regan Russell, who was run over during a protest outside the Fearmans slaughterhouse in Burlington, Canada. Before she died, Regan Russell offered water to sows and pigs arriving in trucks, and witnessed, with her presence, the conditions in which the animals were transported before being slaughtered.
