Virus Outbreak Mexico
A couple hold styrofoam cups in the streets of the Historic Center of Mexico City during the health emergency due to COVID-19 in the capital. As of January 1, 2021, the Ministry of the Environment in Mexico City, prohibits the use of plastics and single-use disposables in accordance with the Solid Waste Law. Environmental authorities seek to reduce the consumption and commercialization of non-biodegradable single-use plastics and styrofoam. Among the prohibited utensils used for the transport or sale of food include forks, knives, spoons, plates, mixers, straws, glasses and their lids.
