Virus Outbreak Mexico

A child holds food on a styrofoam plate in streets near the Historic Center of Mexico City during a health emergency due to COVID-19 in the capital. As of January 1, 2021, the Ministry of the Environment in Mexico City, prohibits the use of plastics and single-use disposables in accordance with the Solid Waste Law. Environmental authorities seek to reduce the consumption and commercialization of non-biodegradable single-use plastics and styrofoam. Among the prohibited utensils used for the transport or sale of food include forks, knives, spoons, plates, mixers, straws, glasses and their lids. Only biodegradable materials that prove their effectiveness can be used. (Photo by Gerardo Vieyra/NurPhoto)
