Ireland: Mother And Baby Homes Shocking Report
A view of the monument commemorating more than 200 children from Bethany Mother and Child Home at Mount Jerome Cemetery in Harold's Cross, Dublin. Taoiseach Micheal Martin (Irish Prime Minister) delivered yesterday evening a landmark apology to survivors of mother and baby homes. The Mother and Baby Homes Commission of Investigation long-awaited final report was published two days ago in Ireland. It confirmed that about 9,000 children died (between 1922 and 1998) in the 18 homes under investigation about 15% of all the children who were in the institutions.
