Poland Extends Lockdown

A large banner hanging on the facade of the Ministry of Defence urging people to get vaccinated against the coronavirus is seen in Warsaw, Poland on January 19, 2021. The current lockdown period that started last year on December 28 has been extended for another two weeks until the start of February to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Poland's healthcare system has been overwhelmed in recent months by sharp increases in infections however business owners are pushing back demanding the government change regulations to allow restaurants, gyms, hotels and other businesses to open because of financial pressures.
