Johnny Depp Seeks Permission To Appeal Against High Court Ruling In The Sun Libel Case
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM - MARCH 18, 2021: Johnny Depp's barrister David Sherborne leaves the Royal Courts of Justice as he applied for permission to appeal, and to rely on further evidence in a bid to overturn last year's ruling in the libel claim against The Sun and its publisher News Group Newspapers over an article labelling him a wife beater, on 18 March, 2021 in London, England. The ruling by a High Court judge Mr Justice Nicol following a three-week trial in July last year found that the claims in the article were substantially true and that the US actor had assaulted his ex-wife Amber Heard.
