Women Protest Turkey's Pulling Out Of Istanbul Convention

Local protests took place around the city against Turkey's withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention in Istanbul, Turkey on March 25, 2021. According to a presidential decree published on Saturday, Turkey withdrew from Istanbul Convention, a treaty on preventing violence against women and domestic violence which was signed in 2011. Opponents of the treaty in Turkey say that the charter encourages divorce, is a threat to the traditional family unity and the order of the society due to the references on gender equality.
