Cherry Picking In Puglia
A cherry tree during the cherry harvest in Molfetta on May 12, 2021. Cherry picking started a few days ago in Puglia. Bari is the first Italian province for production with an excellent quality production in the territory, despite the quantity is decreasing due to the unstable climate in April with frosts and hail. Coldiretti Puglia gives a picture of the sector, explaining that production is concentrated in particular in the Bari area, where 96.4 percent of the Apulian cherries and 39 percent of those consumed nationally are harvested. The province is therefore confirmed as the first for production, with 47 thousand tons of cherries produced. Numbers that we hope to replicate during the harvest season, which started this year more than 10 days later than in 2020. (Photo by Davide Pischettola/NurPhoto)
