Culture Workers Block The Reopening Of The National Theater Of Toulouse

On the main entrance of the National Theater of Toulouse, one can read 'Cancelled show' with the banner reading 'No reopening without social rights'. Culture workers (actors, live artists, dancers, musicians, technicians, etc.) and collectives (Aux Arts etc, Arts en greve...) organized a general assembly in front of the National Theater of Toulouse (TheatreDeLaCite) to protest against the new reform of unemployment benefits and the re-opening of cultures places as they said they haven't been heard by the French government.. Culture workers demand also the extension of the white year ('Annee blanche') which extended their unemployment bebefits due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A play was cancelled at the National Theater of Toulouse due to the protest. Police intervened to fine people who were there for 'illegal assembly'. More tthan 80 theaters are still occupied even if today was a day of re opening of cultural places. On May 19th 2021 in Toulouse France. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
