Commemorating Maxwell Itoya
Each year Poles of African origin, along with local supporters gather in place where the bazaar used to be, commemorating his death and protesting against racism. Warsaw, Poland, on May 23rd, 2021. Maxwell Itoya was a Pole of Nigerian origin. He was shot dead by the Police in Warsaw, on May 23rd, 2010, during a raid on a bazaar where Police searched for forged clothing and accessories. Maxwell, as speaking Polish, tried to help his collegue - who has just been arrested. During the discussion, allegedly loud, the Police shot Maxwell Itoya in his leg, hitting femoral artery, Max died before the ambulance arrived. No Police officer was ever charged.
