New Concrete Walls Around Diavata Refugee Camp In Greece
Greece is building new concrete walls around the refugee camps across the country in the mainland and the islands. The 3meter wall was a decision by the Greek Ministry of Migration and European Commission. Asylum seekers feel like imprisonment conditions while the authorities claim its for their own security, monitoring the entrance and locking the camp during the night. Diavata refugee and migrant camp is a former military camp near the city of Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. The concrete fortification called enhanced fence has been built around the whole area of the camp. Diavata, Greece on June 6, 2021 (Photo by Nicolas Economou/NurPhoto)
