Strike: No postal delivery in western part Netherlands
LEIDEN - Freelance contractors for PostNL, Holland’s largest postal delivery firm have gone on strike for the second day in a row on Wednesday July 15, 2015. Due to the strikes a significant part of country wide postal package deliveries has come to a halt. PostNL several years ago switched from a traditional employee workforce to a largely independent freelance network of delivery specialists. The striking workers, organised under SubcoPartners are demanding an eight hour workday, an hourly wage instead of fixed, per package fees and a release of the obligation to do overwork among other demands. PostNL announced that in their view the strike is ill-timed and demands round the table talks with representatives. (Photo by Jaap Arriens/NurPhoto)
