Rally And Strike After The Assassination Of Madan Tamang

Shrine for the assassinated political leader Madan Tamang in the spot where he was killed in Darjeeling, West Bengal, India, on May 30, 2010. The assassination sparked a huge political rally and a hartal (general strike) that shutdown the entire city of Darjeeling as well as the surrounding towns affecting the entire hill-station in Darjeeling, West Bengal, India, on May 30, 2010. The hartal was called after Madan Tamang, leader of the moderate group Akhil Bharatiya Gorkha League (ABGL) was stabbed to death allegedly by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) supporters on May 21, 2010 in Darjeeling, which lead to a spontaneous shutdown of the three Darjeeling hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kurseong.
