Anti-government Protest In Warsaw
A policeman steps on a banner with the logo of broadcaster TVN modified to resemble a well known symbol of the anti-communist movement in Warsaw, Poland on August 10, 2021. American owned broadcaster TVN's license in Poland will expire at the end of September and the government has indicated it will not renew the license citing converns over it's forerign ownership. Critics argue the non-renewel is a move by the government to shut down critical media outlets. A new bill proposed by lawmakers prohibiting ownership of radio and television outlets by proprietors outside of the European Economic Area has led to fears of the end of independent media in Poland.
