Greece Strengthens Its Border Protection
The control room of the new camera systems in Nea Vyssa. Greece strengthens its surveillance capabilities to fight the increased refugee and migrants flows from Turkey. The border protection at Greek Turkish borders in Evros region is reinforced, supported by the EU, with more Frontex personnel and vehicles, more Greek border police officers, drones, building a new fence and wall, watchtowers with thermal remote cameras and radar on the tower, new combat vehicles and control rooms. On 20 August 2021 Greek ministers visited Evros to inspect the process of the steel fence works and the border surveillance systems against the new expected migrant crossing as EU is expecting a new asylum seeker wave from people from Afghanistan.
