Amatrice Accumoli Five Years After The Earthquake At 3:36 A.m. On 24 August.
Illica, a hamlet of Accumoli, is no more. This is the epicentre of the earthquake that woke up central Italy on the night of 24 August. The road leads to what was once the town's central square, where a bench and an enormous stone with Illica written on it still stand. All that remains are foundations and rubble that has been washed away. An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the moment magnitude scale, hit Central ITaly on 24 August 2016. Its epicentre was close to Accumoli. Several town were destroyed, including Amatrice, Accumoli and Pescara del Tronto. (Photo by Riccardo Fabi/NurPhoto)
