Marsh Of Capestang In The Herault And Aude Departments Is Drying Out
The roots of a tree are seen as water retreated. The marsh of Capestang in the Herault and Aude department is drying out as scorching temperatures and lack of rain hit it hard. The marsh covers an area of 1,374 ha (13,74 square kilometers). The pond is classified as a Natura 2000 zone (network of nature protection areas in the territory of the European Union) and in a ZPS (special Protection Area for wild birds). Many fish, crawfish, mussels died due to the low water level and lack of oxygen in the water. Toulouse. Capestang. Herault. France. August 25th 2021. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
