Harvesting Of Almonds In Molfetta
Two gentlemen break the shells and recover the almonds collected in the previous days, near the Port of Molfetta, Italy on August 28, 2021. According to the latest estimates, the Apulian almonds due to the hailstorm and the late frosts of 8 and 9 April, even led to an 80% drop in production. In Puglia - adds Coldiretti regional - an area equal to 19,428 hectares (equal to 35.05% of the national area cultivated with almonds) is destined for almond cultivation, which provides on average a total production of 264,670 quintals of almonds, one third of the national total (33%). The tropicalization of the climate with violent and controversial phenomena affecting the countryside - concludes Coldiretti Puglia - has caused 3 billion euros of damage in Puglia in the last 10 years.
