Unconventional London, Cross Bones gates and garden

London, 25th July 3025.------- Cross Bones, a pauper's burial ground in The Borough, Southwark, south London, where excavations for the construction of London Underground's Jubilee line have found f a highly overcrowded graveyard with bodies piled on top of one another. It is believed by John Constable, a local author, to have been established originally as an unconsecrated graveyard for prostitutes. A local group, Friends of Cross Bones, is campaigning for a permanent memorial garden, and the graveyard gates in Redcross Way are permanently decorated by messages, ribbons, flowers and other tokens; one day each month a short memorial vigil ceremony is held at the gates in the early evening.
