Alleged Drug War Victims' Remains Exhumed As The Lease Of Their Graves Expired

NAVOTAS CITY, Philippines - Workers carry a stretcher as they exhume remains at the Navotas Cemetery on September 17, 2021. Several remains were exhumed as the lease on their graves expired. Last September 15, the International Criminal Court (ICC) authorized an investigation on President Duterte and his war on drugs from when he took office on July 2016 until March 16, 2019 when the country withdrew from the Rome Statute which created the ICC took effect. The probe will also look into the killings in Davao City, where President Duterte served both as mayor and vice mayor from November 1, 2011 to June 30, 2016. (Photo by George Calvelo/NurPhoto)
