The statues of Miraitowa and Someity, the official mascots of the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Tokyo2020, are dismantled from Ariake park a few days after the close of the Paralympics. The Covid emergency in Japan continues and the tourist resorts and office areas are much less frequented. However, although coronavirus cases are progressively declining, the government is trying to decide on the extension of the COVID-19 state of emergency in Tokyo and other metropolitan areas where hospitals remain under pressure.
