Sancaklar Mosque In Istanbul

Sancaklar Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey on September 29, 2021. Was built in 2013 by architect Emre Arolat. Sancaktar Mosque, which was awarded the 2013 WAF (World Architecture Festival), Religious Buildings Category First Prize and the 2014 Chamber of Architects Building Award, as well as being selected as one of the top 40 structures in the 2015 Mies Van der Rohe awards and one of the top 20 structures in the RIBA 2018 awards. Far from traditional Ottoman architecture, Sancaklar Mosque draws attention with its modern architecture, unlike the classical mosque architecture we are accustomed to. One of the important features of the mosque is that, for the first time in mosque architecture, the places of worship for men and women were not separated. (Photo by Umit Turhan Coskun/NurPhoto)
