Philippine Authorities Restrict Movement Of Unvaccinated Individuals

People visit a shopping center that requires vaccination cards in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on January 26, 2022. Earlier this month, all 17 mayors of the National Capital Region (NCR) unanimously voted for the resolution restricting the mobility of individuals unvaccinated against COVID19, prohibiting them from entering establishments as the country battles a resurgence of cases. Less than a week later, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) also ordered the enforcement of the “No Vaccination, No Ride” policy in public transportation, with critics slamming the policy as a violation of basic human rights. The DOTr however exempts workers and people who are out to access essential goods and medical services. (Photo by George Calvelo/NurPhoto)
