President Saied's Opponents Demonstrate In Support Of Judiciary Independence In Tunis

Supporters of the Islamist-inspired party Ennahda shout slogans as they hold a giant Tunisian flag while making the victory sign, during a demonstration held at the initiative of “Citizens Against the Coup - the Democratic Initiative” campaign, on Mohamed 5 avenue in the capital Tunis, Tunisia, on February 13, 2022, to protest against the dissolution of the country’s Supreme Judicial Council and called for the independence of the judiciary. Protesters also called for the release of the Vice President of Ennahda party, Noureddine Bhiri who is placed under house arrest since more than six weeks. Demonstrators also protested against what they call a coup, referring to the president Kais Saied's seizure of power and the exceptional measures he took since July 25, 2021.
