ANV-COP21 Activists In Toulouse

The banner reads 'Let's us redo the trial of climatic inaction'. Activists from the NGO ANV-COP21 (ie Non Violent Action-Cop21) gathered in front of the Courthouse of Toulouse for the appeal of eight people accused of taking down portraits of French President Macron near Toulouse in 2019. They wanted to denounce the 'inaction' of Macron against climate change and against the biodiversity crisis. They could be fined up to €75,000 and five years in jail. They were first judged in Bordeaux where they gained acquittals but the prosecutor made appeal against the court's decision. The appeal is judged in Toulouse. Passedat Nils, mayor of Lavaurette (Tarn et Garonne), came to the gathering as he's in a procedure with the prefet of Tarn et Garrone and the prosecutor as he also took down the Macron's portrait of the townhall after the Macron's words: 'I want to piss off the unvaccinated as they're irresponsible and thus non-citizens'.
