Hong Kong's COVID-19 Infections Soar

On February 16, 2022, in the temporary shelter outside Caritas Medical Center in Hong Kong, China, patients lie in hospital beds waiting for medical treatment. The temperature drops at night, medical staff transport supplies, and patients are put on thermal insulation products. The Food and Health Bureau confirmed a new record of 4,285 infections, while 7,000 people initially tested positive, a near-record high. At least 12,000 infected people are waiting to be admitted to hospitals as COVID-19 cases overwhelm the public health system. (Photo by Leung Man Hei/NurPhoto)
