Pysanky: Ukrainian Easter Egg Tradition

Beeswax and wax pens called a "kistka" used to create the elaborate Pysanky decorations. On April 13, 2022, members of Northeastern University’s Ukrainian Cultural Club held a Pysanka making workshop on campus, ahead of Ukrainian Easter. Designs are drawn with wax and the eggs are dyed in layers, beginning with the lightest color and working up to red or black. At the end, the wax is removed to reveal an elaborately decorated egg.
