Animal India

According to a recent study by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the population of house sparrows (Passer domesticus) in India has shown a declining trend in recent decades. According to ornithologists in Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal and Karnataka, a sharp decline in the bird has been observed due to the unavailability of nests because of modernisation, construction, and deforestation. A male house sparrow bird is trying to make a nest in a box of cable at Tehatta, West Bengal; India on 27/04/2022. (Photo by Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto)
