Cyprus : Jordan Offers To Station Firefighting Aircraft In Cyprus

An untouched house in the distance is seen among a burnt area after a wildfire, Ora, Cyprus, on Jul. 10, 2021. Jordans King Abdullah II has offered to station firefighting aircraft in Cyprus through the summer fire season, the Cypriot foreign minister said Monday. King Abdullahs offer comes two weeks after Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides pitched to his Greek and Israeli counterparts the creation of an east Mediterranean firefighting hub aimed at quickly addressing huge summer wildfires that could overwhelm any single country, like the ones happened last July in Cyprus.
