Record Breaking Temperatures In Toulouse Due To A 'heat Plume'
Children play in water jets during the heatwave in Toulouse. Due to a 'heat plume' coming from North Africa, France is breaking heat records especially in the south. France is 6 to 13°C above normal temperatures for June. Several heat records will be broken until the end of the heat plume. MeteoFrance says that on friday, temperatures could reach in SW of France, anywhere between 39°C and 44°C. For now, it looks like June 2022 will be the hottest June on record in France since 1850. Christophe Cassou (CNRS and IPCC) explained that without global warming, such record breaking heat events would be extremely rare. In Toulouse, temperature reaches 38°C. It's the 2nd heatwave in France in 2022. This one is particuliar as it's more precocious, more severe and longer than usual. Toulouse. June 15th 2022. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
