78th Anniversary Of The Koppe Operation In Krakow
A woman walks past a plaque commemorating the fallen participants of the attack in Powisle Street, Krakow, during an event commemorating the 78th anniversary of the Operation Koppe in Krakow. Operation Koppe, was an unsuccessful operation of the Polish resistance, carried out on July 11, 1944 in Krakow, by a branch of the Home Army (AK) against SS-Obergruppenführer Wilhelm Koppe, the higher SS and Police commander in the General Government and secretary of state in the German 'government' General Government. Although unsuccessful, Operation Koppe had great moral and psychological significance for the Polish nation. On Saturday, July 09, 2022, in Krakow, Poland. (Photo by Artur Widak/NurPhoto)
