Cpl. Kyle Carpenter speaks at a wreath-laying ceremony for Chief Warrant Officer 4 Hershel Woodrow "Woody" Williams, Retired, the last surviving WWII Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, at the World War II Memorial. Williams passed away June 29, 2022, at the age of 98. Wiliams earned the Medal of Honor during the Battle of Iwo Jima and served in the Marine Corps before a career at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Cpl.
