Araucaria Bidwillii

The Bunya Pine (Araucaria Bidwillii) also known as The Monkey-puzzle Tree is a large evergreen coniferous tree in the extremely ancient plant family Araucariaceae, naturally found in south-east Queensland Australia. The tree's large sweet seeds were traditionally roasted and eaten by Australian Aboriginal peoples. The bunya pine is not a true pine, grows to heights of 30 meters (100 feet). In an old Bunya Pine tree at Mangpoo, the trunk diameters are approximately 5 feet. Mangpoo, West Bengal, India on 06/08/2022 (Photo by Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto) (Photo by Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto)
