Asylum Seeker In Greece

A young asylum seeker from Pakistan as seen walking alone in Egnatia highway next to the cars. He crossed alone the borders between Turkey and Greece and followed on foot the motorway to reach Thessaloniki and then follow the Balkan route. The young man had no backpack food or water as the smuggler told him to leave everything behind while crossing Evros / Meric river, the natural Greek-Turkish border. Refugees and migrants continue to arrive in Greece and Europe from Turkey despite the country's and Europe effort to fortify the borders with a 6m high concrete fence, night and thermal surveillance cameras from towers, drones, patrols from border police and FRONTEX, smugglers still find a way for people to cross the borders illegally, while many die on the way, usually drowning in the river.
