The Endemic Viper Of Milos Island
The endemic viper of Milos island scientifically called Macrovipera schweizeri, a highly venomous snake of the Viperidae family. The species is endangered and endemic to the Greek islands and the Cyclades Archipelago in the Aegean Sea, specifically on Milos Island. The specific name, schweizeri, is in honor of Swiss herpetologist Hans Schweizer. The reptile is displayed to the public in the Natural History Museum of Crete.
