Independence Day In Lviv, Ukraine
People pray at the graves of fallen soldiers, killed by the Russian army during the 2022 invasion in the old town of Lviv on Lychakiv Cemetery as Ukrainians celebrate Independence Day, as well as mark 6 month of war with Russia on August 24. The city of Lviv selected a separate slot of land in the cemetery for the soldiers fallen in the fight with Russia, who are highly regarded as national heroes. Any large-scale celebration of Independence Day was banned due to the fear of Russian bombardment. Ukrainians in Lviv celebrated the holiday having quiet walks, displaying their national symbols, and paying tribute to the fallen servicemen. (Photo by Dominika Zarzycka/NurPhoto)
