Poland Commemorate 83rd Anniversary World War II Outbreak
WW2 veteran, retired Captain Jan Kowalczys, ps. 'Brave' is seen during a commemorative event outside the Monument to the Defenders of the Polish Post Office. The Defence of the Polish Post Office in Gdansk was one of the first acts of WW2 in Europe. 56 members of the Polish personnel defended the building for over 15 hours against assaults by over 180 SS Danzig Home Defence, local SA formations and special units of Danzig police.
