Action Against A Planned Highway In The Tarn Department

A banner on a roudabout during the action reads 'Harvests not Tar'. The collective 'La Voie Est Libre' (ie 'The Way Is Free') and the farmers organization Confederation Paysanne 81 organized in Soual (Tarn) an action to slow down work on the decried future highway Toulouse-Castres, the A69. They also wanted to protect a farmer in Soual from preventive archeological works due to begin this day against his will. They took all points of reference and all the 'nature' placards put by NGE on the site. They acted as NGE group (poised to build this highway) hasn't all the environmental authorizations to begin the works. Preventive archeological works normally begin after all authorizations have been given. This highway would cost (at date) €512millions for 54 kilometers, half of the money will be public. Opponents at this project say that the reprofiling of the N126 will be suffisant for the 6,000 vehicles planned per day and would cost far less money.
