Clashes between riot police and protesters in central Athens

Clashes broke out in central Athens between riot police and protesters after the protest rally during the first 24-hour general strike called by the main public and private sector unions, the first since SYRIZA and Independent Greeks came to power in January. A group of about 150 people threw Molotov cocktails at policemen who responded by using chemicals. Also anarchists caused damage to shops, bus stops and traffic lights.
