United Nations Press Briefing On The Democratic Republic Of Congo
Mr. Bruno Lemarquis, Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator and Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) briefs the press on the current humanitarian crisis in the DRC at the United Nations Headquarters on October 19, 2022 in New York City, USA. Continuous troop movements and mining for lithium created the largest migrations of any such country, causing food insecurity for 27 million people in the eastern region of the DRC. Additionally, violence, kidnapping and attacks on medical facilities contribute the insecurity of the displaced. (Photo by John Lamparski/NurPhoto)
