Daily Life In Krakow

A member of the Municipal Police and a participant wearing Polish Legion 1914-18 uniform are seen during the 104th anniversary celebration of the independence of Krakow. After 123 years of captivity, during which Poland was under the rule of three partitioning countries: Austria, Prussia and Russia, freedom finally came. On October 31, 1918, Krakow liberated itself from Austrian captivity. A group of Polish soldiers under the command of Lieutenant Antoni Stawarz disarmed the Austrian garrison stationed in the Town Hall Tower in the Main Market Square of Krakow.
