Environmental Activists Protest To Japan, Stop Funding Coal And Fossil Fuels

Environmental activists display posters during a rally outside the Japanese embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia on November 1, 2022. The group on Tuesday criticized the Japanese government’s efforts to promote and encourage investment in a variety of technologies such as ammonia and hydrogen co-firing, carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology, and the use of Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) through the so-called GX (Green Transformation) strategy. According to The Indonesian Forum for Living Environment (Wahana Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia, WALHI), it is a wrong solution to the energy transition drive, as it will only prolong the use of fossil fuel use and exacerbate the climate crisis and air pollution in Indonesia.
