Riot police officers outside of the Polytechnic faculty while fire from molotovs are on the streets and bins are burning. Clashes between demonstrators and the police after the commemorating march for the 17 November student uprising in Greece. A group of protesters entered in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and initiated an attack towards the riot police units with molotov cocktail bombs, rocks and fireworks after setting up on fire a road barricade and trash bins. Police responded with tear gas and stun grenades. Large scale demonstration on November 17, 2022 to commemorate the Athens Polytechnic University student uprising anniversary against the ruling military junta dictatorship in 1973. Around 15.000 people, including left parties student associations, civilians, students, labor unions, leftists, antifa, anarchists and other groups marched in the city of Thessaloniki. Protesters burned American flags in front of the US consulate. Slogans and banners were against NATO, police and the government. Clashes broke out after the end of the protest, when face covered, black hooded groups entered the Polytechnic faculty in the Aristotle University and threw stones, petrol bombs, molotov cocktails, fireworks to the riot police forces, who responded with tear gas and stun grenades in addition to the water cannon vehicle. 87 arrests have been made.
