A night view of Sri Pada (Adam's Peak) on January 9, 2022, in Maskeliya, Sri Lanka. Adam's Peak, or the Sri Pada, is an important pilgrimage site. Buddhists believe the impression on the summit is the footprint of Lord Buddha himself. Though it takes around 5 hours to reach the peak by foot, devotees of many religions climb the mountain daily to invoke blessings. Adam's Peak is extremely popular with tourists for its alluring beauty and unmatched trekking. The peak, the seventh tallest peak in Sri Lanka, is also known as Sri Pada (sacred footstep) and Samanala Kanda (butterfly mountain).
