The town of Joshimath , which is an important pilgrim corridor for the pilgrimage of Badrinath has faced a recent environmental crisis as over 500 houses developed crack as the town sunken further . According to science report , the town is been sinking by 10cm every year since last decade , but a massive event took place as the town sank over 5 cm is span of few days , between 27th Dec and 8th Jan .
