Protest In Washington Square Park, New York Over Death Of Tyre Nichols

Demonstrators gather in Washington Square Park to protest the death of Tyre Nichols on January 28, 2023 in New York. The release of a video showing the fatal beating of Nichols, a 29-year-old black man, sparked protests in New York and other cities across the country. Nichols was violently beaten for three minutes and died at the hands of Memphis police officers earlier this month following a traffic stop. Five black MPD officers have been fired after an internal investigation determined they were ''directly responsible'' for the beating and have been charged with ''second-degree murder, aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of official misconduct and one count of official oppression.''
