Aerial View Of The Iconic Windmills In Kinderdijk

Panoramic aerial view of the iconic Kinderdijk windmills from a drone. The windmills of Kinderdijk which some of them are still in use are one of the best-known Dutch tourist sites as they have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. The windmills are on the Alblasserwaard polder at the confluence of the Lek and Noord rivers next to the village in the municipality of Molenlanden, in the province of South Holland, Netherlands. The name Kinderdijk is Dutch for ''Children dike''. The original use of the mills was to pump water and drain the flooded area at the polders. Nowadays thousands of tourists visit the attraction of the windmills as they are a landmark for the country. Molenlanden, the Netherlands on January 2023 (Photo by Nicolas Economou/NurPhoto)
