Common Brushtail Possum
A common brushtail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula) sits on an animal food feeder and eats pasta in a private residence in Christchurch, New Zealand on February 10, 2023. The brushtail possum was introduced to New Zealand in 1837 for the fur trade. But they are a major threat to the country's native wildlife and plants. Possum numbers are difficult to assess accurately, but in the early 2000s, estimates ranged from 50 to 70 million. (Photo by Sanka Vidanagama/NurPhoto)
