Animal India
The Lemon Emigrant or Common Emigrant (Catopsilia pomona) is a medium-sized pierid butterfly found in Asia, Cambodia, and parts of Australia. The species gets its name from its habit of migration. The butterflies are strongly migratory in habit and can be seen flying in undulating 'strings' of a dozen or so adults, traveling up and down the rivers which they use as migration corridors linking their high and low-elevation breeding sites. A butterfly is sitting on the West Indian Lantana flower feeding on nectar and has almost camouflaged with the plant due to its green coloration at Tehatta, West Bengal; India on 12/02/2023 (Photo by Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto)
